SOBA Study Abroad Program
The School of Business Administration would like to welcome you to our Study Abroad Program in Prague in Czech Republic, Bratislava - Stara Lubovna, Slovakia and Vienna, Austria. We go right after school ends in May, for two plus weeks of Maymester. We return in time for the first semester of USCA summer school.
As our mission states, our programs should prepare our students to meet the
challenges of global business and dynamic society. The SOBA Study
Abroad Program gains unique experiences and learn about business around the world!
Why Study Abroad?
This program was initiated in May 1999. It was such a great success, that the School has decided to continue the project as a yearly event. Our SOBA Studies Abroad Program is a rewarding educational experience that allows students to engage in a unique and enlightening learning format. In addition to an academic experience, the trip offers opportunity to understand the amazing history and culture of Eastern Europe. Prague, no longer Europe’s 'best kept' touring secret, remains one of its most magical, romantic and invigorating places!
This Study Abroad Program, sponsored by The School of Business Administration, is designed to give enterprising students first hand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing international business. This is a rare opportunity to experience the conversion of Central Europe’s most progressive countries from centrally planned, socialistic to the free market economics.
The coursework consists of an intensive one week orientation on the Aiken campus covering both coursework and the Czech Republic’s history, politics , economy and business environment. This is followed by flying to Europe, two plus weeks of classes, company visits, outside speakers and tours in and around the Czech Republic and the mountains of Slovakia. We offer our "core" International Business [BUS383] course and ABUS 398 "Topic in International Business" course. Each course earns three credit hours.
