About
UNITY
A very
positive article in the September 20, 2000, issue of the
Pacer Times spoke about the needs of gay and lesbian
students on our USC Aiken campus. A group of faculty and
staff then began to meet to form a support group for GLBTSQ
students, faculty, and staff. The first UNITY meeting was
held in February of 2001, and since that time, the
organization has steadily grown and matured in its
educational outreach.
UNITY has been a great encouragement for
dozens of students, staff, and faculty. It exists as a
support group for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered,
Straight, and Questioning students, faculty, and staff of
USC Aiken. In addition, UNITY educates and increases
awareness relating to the needs of the GBLTSQ people by
conducting scheduled meetings and a variety of other social
events.
