How To Become A Member

Becoming a member is simple.  To join, you MUST be open to an understanding of GLBTSQ issues and be willing to maintain a level of confidentiality for others in the group.  Any member found in violation of confidentiality shall no longer be able to participate in social events and/or meetings.  UNITY does not require its members to pay dues; however, members are allowed to donate money for funding if they choose to.  Elections for offices are held in the spring of each year, and officers serve a term of one year unless extenuating circumstances dictate otherwise.  On average, two meetings will be held each month.  The Executive Committee shall meet at least twice a month to discuss upcoming programs and events that will be held by the organization.  Reminders will be sent via email, and announcements of meetings will appear on campus fliers, posters, and other student media sources (i.e. student newspaper).  Meetings are held in the Humanities & Social Sciences building (H&SS) in room 201.  UNITY typically meets on a Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15pm.  For more information regarding meetings and events, contact us.

*Note:  If you would like to join our mailing list, please send a blank e-mail here

Confidentiality Policy

We encourage our members to actively participate in the meetings as well as in the community.  Our confidentiality policy is to protect the identities of members who do not wish to be “outted” without their consent.  We understand that not everyone is ready for people to know about them so we ask that our members who attend the meetings and other events to not mention names and so forth.  We also encourage members to not share others’ personal stories and information.  This is to protect all our members and help create a safe and inviting atmosphere for everyone.
