Defense:  Dig and Retreat

Objectives:
Practice moving prior to attacking and stopping at the attack.

  1. Player creeps into court in ready position toward the net.
  2. When coach begins to bring hitting arm forward the player stops and prepares to recieve the hit. (The coach controls how close the players get to the net)
  3. Coach hits the ball.
  4. Player digs the ball.
  5. Player quickly retreats off the court.
  6. Second player creeps into court and repeats process.
  7. Continue for a set number of good digs or for a preset amount of time

Variations:
Change the path of the players.  (See two diagrams)
