Defense:  Red Defense - Floater Training

Objectives:
Focus on the defense of the player behind the block.

  1. Initiate the drill with a toss or a pass to the setter.
  2. Setter sets any of the three hitters (or 2 hitters if the setter is simulating being in the front row).
  3. Middle Blocker attempts to close all blocks.
  4. Floater player covers behind the block attempting to pickup any tips.
  5. Hitter tips around block.
  6. Right front player cataches ball, or the defending team can play the ball out.
  7. Repeat defense for a set number of good digs.
  8. Defender is returning to base before every set.

Variations:
Score the drill with time, give the setter tosses or passes rapidly.  The player with the most digs wins.
This would be more of a conditioner for the floater player.
