Defense:  Rover Lines

Objectives:
To practice playing the Rover position.

  1. Coach tosses ball to the setter.
  2. Setter sets either hitter, or tips ball over the net to middle of the court (about 10' line).
  3. Hitter approaches and hits an aggressive roll shot to middle third of the back court.
  4. Rover releases from base and attempts to reader hitter.
  5. Rover passes the ball to the target.
  6. Hitter goes to rover line, rover goes to target, target takes ball to coach and then gets in a hitting line.

Variations:
  1. Add blockers in front of each hitter.
  2. Add a middle hitter and middle blocker.
