Defense:  Dump or Dig

Objectives:
To practice focusing on the setter before releasing to defensive positions.

  1. Coach tosses a ball to the setter.
  2. The setter can attack the ball or set outside.
  3. If the setter attacks left back and right back players attempt to dig ball to the blocker (who is also the target).
  4. If the setter sets the hitter the defenders move to their defensive positions and attempt to dig hitter.
  5. Hitter attack line or cross court around blocker.
  6. Repeat for a set number of repetitions or balls passed to the target.

Variations:
  1. Use a passer instead of tossing ball to the setter.
  2. Add a middle hitter and another blocker.
