Objectives: Practice setting an offense transitioning from defense.
Coach hits ball to defender or setter. If setter digs the ball the blocker lands and sets the hitter. If defender digs ball setter transitions to the net. Blocker transitions off the net to hit. Setter sets either the hitter of the blocker. Player set approaches and hits ball. Repeat, hit to the defender more than the setter. Hit to the setter enough to keep them honest and ready to play defense.
Variations:
Change the hitter to a middle hitter, work on setting the middle out transition. Change the location of the defender, lets the setter get used to setting balls dug from different locations on the court.
Scoring or Rotations:
Use two setters alternating repetitions for a preset amount of time. Use one setter at a time, for a preset amount of time. Count good sets, compete between the setters for time or number of repetitions.
