Serve Receive:  One Person Serve Receive

Objectives:
To practice reading servers, covering a large area and getting a pass that can be set to the outside.

  1. Setter starts in a base position ready to transition to net.
  2. One passer and one outside hitter on receiving side, the rest serve.
  3. One at a time servers serve anywhere on the court.
  4. Passer must focus on server attempting to read their serve and then make the best pass possible.
  5. Setter penetrates to the net as soon as serve is contacted.
  6. Setter sets outside hitter.
  7. Outside hitters makes best hit possible.
  8. Repeat for a set amount of time or for points.

Scoring:
  1. Count good passes, passer must get X good passes before they can leave the drill.
  2. Count good hits, passer must get passes to the setter in order for the hitter to get a good swing.
  3. +/-, give +'s for good passes - 's for any pass the setter can not get their hands on.

Variations:
  1. Change hitter to a middle hitter, increasing difficulty because a good pass is more necessary to run the middle.
  2. Have the setter penetrate to the net from other locations on the court, use locations from the team's serve receive.
