Free Ball Transition: Transition, Pass and Pass

Objectives:
To practice giving and receiving free balls.

  1. Coach initiates drill with a toss to a passer.
  2. Passer passes ball over the net to the defense.
  3. When setter realizes a free ball is coming they call 'free' and transition to net.
  4. Other players transition to their spots.
  5. Players pass ball to the target.
  6. Setter catches ball.
  7. Players return to their base.
  8. After three passes over rows of players wave off the court.
  9. Repeat for a set number of good passes to the target position.

Variations:
  1. Players can only receive the first ball with an overhead pass.
  2. Compete where passers get point for a free ball kill or ball the team can not pass to target.
