Free Ball Transition: Pass, Set, Cover and Catch

Objectives:
To practice getting into a free ball offense.

  1. Coach initiates drill with a toss to the passer.
  2. Passer passes ball over the net.
  3. Setter transitions to net while yelling 'free'.
  4. Players transition to their spots.
  5. Players pass ball to the setter.
  6. Setter sets one of the front row hitters.
  7. Hitter approaches and catches ball.
  8. Players cover behind the hitter.
  9. Players return to their defensive base.
  10. Repeat for a set number of passes over the net.
  11. Wave through by rows.

Variations:
  1. Players tip balls over net instead of catching.
  2. Players hit balls over net instead of catching.
