Objectives: Practice hitting against the block and transitioning off the net.
Coach gives a free ball or down ball to the passer. Passer passes the ball to the setter. Setter sets any of the three hitters (run plays, etc.) Blocking side attempts to block, focusing on attempting to double block every attack. Hitting side gets a point for every hard driven attack they can get past the block. Blocking side gets a point for every significant touch at the net. Repeat steps 1--5 for 5 to 10 repetitions, keeping track of points. Have the setter and passer switch sides of the net and give the other side the free balls. Add the scores of the two groups of free balls, the team with the most points wins the game. Play 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5 games.
Variation: Use a setter for both sides of the net and only two front row hitters.
