Offense: 1st Swing Sideouts

Objectives:
Emphasize importance of 1st swing sideouts. 

Definition:
First Swing Sideout:  Receiving team terminates the ball with only one attack. (Thus preventing the other team from attacking)

  1. Put teams of 6 on each side of the net.
  2. Designate one team as receiving team and serving team.
  3. Receiving team is given a set amount of time (2-3 minutes) to accumulate as many first swing sideouts as possible.
  4. After the time serving team and receiving team switch responsibilities.
  5. The team that has more 1st swing sideouts wins that rotation.
  6. Teams rotate and start over.
  7. Repeat until the teams rotate all the way around (6 rotations).
  8. In case of a tie repeat rotation one.
