Objectives: Practice executing offense and defending broken plays.
Coach tosses a ball into court, the toss counts as the first contact for that side. Players attempt to get at least down ball, a back row attack or a front row attack with the last two contacts. Opposing side must defend the play. Play the ball out until the play is dead.
Examples of scoring systems:
If the goal is to get an in system set off with the remaining contacts, only score good attacks from the front row , 2 points, or -1 for a free ball. If the goal is to defend broken plays give defending side 2 points for a block, or a kill out off the first time the ball comes over the net.
Variation: Have teams start in their serve receive and toss ball as setter is transitioning to the target. Defending team is in base positions.
