COVERING THE LEFTSIDE HITTER
  Coverage for the left side hitter is important because of the nature of the position.  Generally the left side attack receives the highest number of sets in a match.  Also, a left side hitter generally gets the sets off a not so perfect pass, which can result in not so perfect sets.  When passing breaks down the left side hitter can face a double block a high percentage of the time making the coverage of this hitter very important.
  Coverage of the first row involves the setter following along the

net, the middle hitter and the left back player following the approach to the net.  The deep coverage is covered by the Middle Back and Right Side Attacker.  Middle Back has the largest area to cover and must be in a position to move in any direction.

COVERING THE MIDDLE HITTER
  Coverage for the middle hitter is a little more difficult because of the amount of time between the set and the hit is shorter than for the left side or right side hitter.  This is especially true if the middle is running quick attacks.
