Ball Control: Base Release BC

Objectives:
Practice base release movements.

  1. Coach enters ball with a free or down ball to one of the defenders.
  2. Defender passes the ball to the setter.
  3. Setter either tips the ball over to middle of the court or sets outside.
  4. If setter tips defender passes ball to setter, if not defender releases to defensive position.
  5. Outside hitter approaches and hits a controlled ball to the defender.
  6. When outside hitter attacks defender creeps in behind in coverage and the two players switch positions.
  7. Continue until the players reach a predetermined number of contacts, digs or attacks.
