The Center for Research Excellence is pleased to announce Scholar Showcase 2018. This spring will mark our 11th annual celebration of the work of our students and their faculty mentors. This year's event will begin with a keynote address on Thursday afternoon, April 12 and continue with student presentations throughout the following day, Friday, April 13. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Jane Couperus, from Hampshire College.
Dr. Jane Couperus is the Dean of the School of Cognitive Science and Associate Professor of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at Hampshire College. Her research focuses on selective attention in adults and children, using both behavioral and electrophysical methodologies. She is actively involved in undergraduate research and mentors her students on projects examining cross-modal memory, autism, and decision making. Dr. Couperus is working to facilitate undergraduate training across the country through her PURSUE (Preparing Undergraduate for Research in Stem-related fields Using Electrophysiology) program.
Friday's event will include concurrent morning and afternoon oral sessions and an afternoon poster session. In addition to more traditional oral or poster presentations, creative projects will be showcased through visual art displays, theatrical or musical performances, or readings.
The event is free, but registration is required for participation. We encourage all USC Aiken faculty to support this exceptional undergraduate experience through undergraduate mentorship, suitable course projects, or participation as session moderators.
