USC Aiken Leadership Councils
To promote inclusiveness, enhance efficiency, expand communication, and facilitate decision-making, several groups work to fulfill the university's mission and achieve its goals as outlined in the strategic plan: the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the Chancellor’s Extended Cabinet, the Chancellor’s Leadership Assembly and Provost’s Council, the Academic Council, and the Dean’s Council.
Chancellor's/SGA Town Hall
During each semester, the Chancellor and the Student Government Association invite student leaders on campus to a town hall-styled meeting focused on issues and topics of interest to the student body. Students are invited to bring questions and topics forward to be addressed by the Chancellor and members of the Administrative Cabinet. Additionally, the town hall meetings also are used to inform the student leadership about significant campus initiatives.
Chancellor's Cultural Events
Each semester the Chancellor invites groups of students to special events on and off campus such as University Theater Player events, Ruth Patrick planetarium shows, athletic events, lecture series, or other unique USCA events. These events enable the Chancellor to interact with members of the student body in a smaller group setting.
The Chancellor's Ambassadors
The Chancellor's Ambassadors represent USC Aiken and the Office of the Chancellor to build and foster relationships between students, alumni, and the community. Each spring, Chancellor’s Ambassadors apply for the position and are then selected after an interview with the organization’s advisors.
Honors Student Reception and Dinner
Each year the Chancellor hosts a reception and a dinner in honor of students in USCA's Honors Program. This event enables the Chancellor and the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to get to know the incoming Honors students and to learn more about the returning students. It also affords Honors students an opportunity to discuss their program of study, research projects, and other university activities with the Chancellor.
The Faculty Assembly consists of the Chancellor, the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellors, all full-time faculty regardless of rank, Director of Financial Aid, Registrar, and such other persons as the Assembly sees fit to elect. The Chancellor addresses the Assembly once a month, updating and briefing them on University matters and taking questions of import to the Assembly members.
Staff Assembly (SA)
The Staff Assembly consists of all classified employees of the University. The purpose of the Assembly is to coordinate employee suggestions concerning the management and operations of USC Aiken, and to promote the welfare of classified employees in general. This body communicates concerns and suggestions to classified employees, administration, faculty and students, and forwards concerns to the SA Advisory Committee. The Chancellor addresses the Assembly twice a semester, updating and briefing them on University matters and taking questions of import to the Assembly members.
Campus Updates from the Chancellor
The Chancellor addresses the University’s faculty and staff in formal presentations open to the campus community. These presentations include the Annual State of the Campus Address, the University Budget Forum, and the Legislative and Campus Priorities Address which is also open to the public. See the information below about each formal presentation.
Annual State of the Campus Address
In the fall of each year, as the new academic year begins, the Chancellor invites all faculty, staff, and students to join her in celebrating the past year’s achievements and addresses the campus as we begin preparing for a new academic year. The Chancellor presents an annual update on progress associated with the “Forward Together Strategic Plan.”
University Budget Forum
Once a semester, and more often if warranted, the Chancellor addresses the University’s faculty and staff in a Budget Forum setting, as well as opens the floor up for a Q&A session.
Legislative and Campus Priorities Address
In the fall, the Chancellor holds an annual meeting to brief the Aiken County Legislative Delegation members and the Aiken County Commission for Higher Education members on the University’s programs and facilities, while prioritizing its legislative requests for the coming year. The University various boards and the Student Government Association officers are also in attendance, as well as City and County officials. The event is open to the public.
Coffee and Conversation
Throughout the semester, the Chancellor hosts small, informal gatherings for faculty and staff to meet for conversation and convivial fellowship.
