COVID-19 Policies

The Children's Center

Effective August 16th, 2021

  • Since children under 12 years old can’t be vaccinated yet, we feel that masks are necessary to protect our little ones. Anyone who enters the building will be required to wear a mask.
  • Parents who are wearing a mask may walk their child to the classroom door and pick them up from the classroom. (We will be distributing new entry cards soon).
  • Any parent who has been exposed to COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms should not enter the building even if wearing a mask.
  • We are asking that only one parent drop off or pick up; please just take your child to their class and exit quickly.
  • Parents who need to discuss things with staff can do so through Class Dojo or set up an appointment.
  • Communications between parents and staff will continue to be done on Class Dojo.
  • Parents who do not wish to wear a mask may ring the doorbell and wait for staff member.
  • Staff, families, and children will observe six foot social distancing when possible.
  • Children’s temperatures will be taken twice a day (arrival and after nap). Children with a temperature of 100 degrees or more will be asked to be picked up. A negative COVID-19 test may be required for return.
  • Children with symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to remain home and observe quarantine procedures (or be tested).
  • If a child has been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 or if an immediate family member has tested positive (or is in quarantine), quarantine procedures must be followed.
  • The center will follow DSS/CDC procedures if a staff or child tests positive and has been in attendance. This could involve closing rooms or the Center for appropriate sanitizing and quarantine requirements.
  • Parents will be notified through email and Class Dojo of any positive cases and closures.
  • Names of staff or children who test positive will have their identity protected for confidentiality reasons.
  • In order to limit items going in and out of the Center, children are asked not to bring items from home.
  • Diapers and wipes for children should be brought in large amounts to cut down on items coming in the building.
  • Children 2 and over may bring a blanket and pillow at the beginning of the year to be left at the Center.
  • Parents agree to notify the Children’s Center of any exposure or positive tests to COVID-19.
  • All family members will be sent home if one sibling has COVID-19 symptoms. (Fever of 100 degrees or more; excessive cough; lethargy)
  • Children who are sent home with COVID-19 symptoms may require a doctor’s note or negative COVID-19 test to return.
  • Future changes in policy will be dictated by Covid-19 prevalence, and, as always, we will monitor the advice of health officials.
