Hoss Brown serves as the Assistant Director of Student Life—Diversity Initiatives at the University of South Carolina Aiken. In this role, Hoss develops programs, services, policies, and initiatives that serve to build a more diverse and inclusive campus. This programing includes areas such as—heritage month celebrations, trainings and educational outreach, advocacy and support services, and cultural event planning.

Hoss was a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati prior to joining the Department of Diversity Initiatives at USC Aiken. As a graduate student, Hoss served as a committee member on the A&S Diversity & Inclusion Council. In addition, he also conducted research on LGBTQ Palestinian identity formation in the Israel/Palestine region.

Hoss received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Cincinnati.

In his free time, Hoss enjoys traveling internationally, working out, engaging in social advocacy, hiking, drinking coffee, and reading/discussing politics, philosophy, and history.

Travis Hardee serves as the Coordinator of Student Life - Diversity Initiatives at the University of South Carolina Aiken. In this role, Travis coordinates initiatives and programs meant to support student success and enhance equality among the campus community. In addition to supporting the programs initiated by the Assistant Director of Student Life - Diversity Initiatives, he is also responsible for transfer orientation, advocacy projects, and support services.

Prior to this position, Travis graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken. During his time as an undergraduate, his studies were focused in the field of Human and Social Services. His secondary focus was studying Spanish.

Travis received his Bachelor's degree in Sociology and minored in Spanish. He plans to continue his education by studying law and public policy.

In his free time, Travis enjoys watching movies, documentaries and crime related programs. He also enjoys studying different languages and reading.

Jenesis Garcia is one of the Student Coordinator-Diversity Initiatives at the University of South Carolina Aiken. As a Student Coordinator-Diversity Initiatives, Jenesis' job title entails planning events accordingly to the different history and heritage months, learning and teaching different topics related to gender, sexuality, and race, helping create and encourage other students to create a safe environment for diverse groups, and advertising different events.

Jenesis took a leadership position as the Vice President of the student organization UNITY, a LGBTQ+ student support group. As president, she plans events, conducts meetings with other LGBTQ students and allies on campus, and works to make every person feel included.

Jenesis plans on graduating from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a degree in Communication. Afterwards, she plans on going to a seminary school for two years before becoming a pastor.

In her free time, Jenesis loves to read, write stories, preach on overcoming low self-esteem, baking, and learning about different diverse issues around the globe

As the Student Coordinator-Diversity InitiativesInitiatives, Amethyst assists the Assistant Director of Student Life—Diversity Initiatives in developing events such as heritage month celebrations, cultural event planning, and advocacy/support services.

Before coming to USC Aiken, Amethyst lived in the southernmost region of Texas known as the Rio Grande Valley. It was there that she became interested in intersecting identities, human rights, and advocacy. Amethyst is a senior Sociology major with a Political Science Minor.

Amethyst likes to keep busy. When she is not working in the Student Life Office, she is the Community Service Senator for USC Aiken's Student Government Association, the President of the College Democrats, and the Event Coordinator for the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society chapter at USC Aiken. When she does have free time, Amethyst enjoys watching movies, going on nature hikes with her dogs, and painting.

Paige Davis serves as a Student Coordinator-Diversity Initiatives at the University of South Carolina
Aiken. In this position, she focuses on bringing awareness to social issues as well as, planning and
executing heritage month celebrations and other cultural events.

Paige is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Women & Gender
studies. In addition, to working in the Department of Diversity Initiatives she serves as the Student
Coordinator for International Programs.
She is an international student from the Bahamas. She loves traveling, trying new foods, getting to know
new people and reading.
