Phebe E. Davidson, PhD

PhD, English, Rutgers University, 1991

Phebe Davidson (PhD Rutgers, 1991) taught an array of writing, literature, and film courses at UofSC Aiken from 1991 to 2005. A three-time winner of the university's Scholarly Activity award, she held the G.L. Toole Chair in English for three terms prior to her retirement.

In addition to being an active scholar who published on subjects ranging from early American narratives to film and popular culture, Davidson was a highly productive poet, publishing some nine collections during her tenure at UofSC Aiken. Since retirement, she has continued to fill her days with poetry, both writing and reading, and has helped to organize a workshop group in the upstate.

She continues to enjoy gardening, reading, and going to the movies. To this list of pleasures she has added the considerable luxuries of living on the shore of a beautiful lake, extended fall trips to the Blue Ridge, and not having to set an alarm clock.
