LONG DISTANCE

Check the local Aiken, local Augusta, and local Columbia lists above to make sure the number you are calling is not a local call. In-state and Out-of-state long distance calls may be placed by dialing 9-1 followed by the area code and 7 digit number.

SEARCH CALLS

When making a search call, dial the campus operator (0), give her the state, area code, then the seven (7) digit number you are calling. International calls and faxes require that you give the operator the country and city codes and then the telephone number.

All calls made from your phone are billed to your department. It is your responsibility to monitor the calls placed from your phone to insure that calls that cost the University money are business-related calls. Students are not allowed to make long distance calls without the campus operator receiving prior approval from the department head who will be paying for the call.

USC CAMPUSES

All USC campuses except Union and Walterboro have a Dial Access Code which affects the way we place calls to them from our campus. Dial 81, the 2 digit Dial Access Code, pause for a dial tone and dial the extension that you wish to call. Extension numbers for people on other campuses can be found in the USC Telephone Directory. If you have questions regarding these instructions, please call Computer Services for assistance.
