There are several ongoing service learning activities in the School of Nursing. Students in the Introduction to Nursing Practice course offer free blood pressure screening to all faculty and staff on the USCA campus. Students in Community Health Nursing provide health screening and referrals to clients at SC Vocational Rehabilitation and Easter Seals of East Georgia.
Another ongoing service learning activity takes place within the Child Health Nursing course, in which students, under the supervision of faculty, provide the required physical examinations for Special Olympic athletes in Aiken and Edgefield counties. Approximately 300 athletes have been able to participate in the local Special Olympic Games, who otherwise would not have.
