Emergency Evacuation Devices

Department of Operations

Emergency Evacuation Devices are designed for use in any multi-storied building. Because speed and safety are the key factors in an evacuation, these EEDs allow the rescuer to descend the stairwell as his or her own pace with the evacuee safely restrained inside the unit in a vertical, seated position. The design of these devices allows them to travel down narrow stairs, through small door frames, and across outdoor terrain. USCA currently has seven EEDs on campus.
