Geocaching as a hands-on, integrated activity (Session Canceled)

The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how geocaching can be used as a tool to provide middle level students with hands-on activities that promote integrated learning. The international phenomenon of geocaching has gained much interest over the past few years. Many educators have enjoyed geocaching as a hobby and some of them have found creative ways to integrate this adventure into education. Geocaching is an activity that will excite middle level students and will provide opportunities for them to learn content. Participants will learn about geocaching and view examples of how geocaching has been used in education. A few unofficial geocaches will be placed outside of the building and participants will have the opportunity to seek these “geocaches” using smartphones and apps that can be downloaded at the time of the presentation.
