Welcome to the School of Business Administration at USC Aiken! We are excited that you have chosen to major in business administration at USC Aiken and look forward to helping you become a well-prepared, ethical business leader.
As one of three professional schools at USC Aiken, we pride ourselves on maintaining a caring learning environment in which you can fulfill your educational goals. SOBA graduates acquire valuable business knowledge and skills that help them meet the global and technological challenges of today's business world. They also learn to develop a professional value system that promotes high ethical standards in all relationships and welcomes and appreciates diversity.
Our business curriculum and degree program are fully accredited by AACSB International, which is the premier accreditation agency for collegiate schools of business around the world. This is a distinction held by less than 30 percent of all schools of business in the country, and less than 10 percent worldwide. A degree in business administration from USC Aiken compares very favorably with those granted by much larger universities, in the context of a much more personalized experience. SOBA faculty get to know their students by name, and the learning experience goes far beyond the classroom. We have several very active student organizations, including the SOBA Student Advisory Council and an award-winning chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business students. Some of our students participate in internships with local organizations or conduct undergraduate research under the supervision of our faculty.
Our award-winning faculty hold advanced terminal degrees from prestigious institutions and are active in applied and pedagogical research. Many of them also have extensive experience in business and industry and continue to work as consultants in their field of expertise. The faculty is also actively involved in the local community, working closely with our Business Advisory Council composed of successful local businesspersons, many of whom are SOBA alumni.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of SOBA, let me close by saying that we want each of you to succeed, and we are here to help you in any way that we can.
Wishing you much success,Michael J. “Mick” Fekula, Ph.D.Dean, USCA School of Business AdministrationProfessor of ManagementTimmerman Chair in Enterprise Development
