Understand human behavior with a Psychology degree at USCA

Why do we act the way we do? If you’re curious about human behavior, earn your Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Psychology is one of the most popular majors because you learn about yourself and those around you and gain top employable skills. You’ll be able to use your psychology degree in many jobs where it’s important to understand how to work with people.

Program Highlights

USCA’s Bachelor of Psychology degree program provides you with the science and liberal arts skills to better understand the people around you. Some of the highlights of our psychology degree include:

  • A wide variety of practical courses, not just theory. Our Bachelor of Science in Psychology includes course choices for your concentration on immersive, relevant topics. USCA classes will allow you to explore your burning questions about human behavior.
  • Active and dedicated faculty. Our Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology faculty members have PhDs and postgraduate experience. They publish research papers, often with undergraduate co-authors, and receive prestigious grant awards. Yet our faculty also dedicate themselves to teaching and advising students in classes and with research projects.
  • Small classes and faculty mentoring. Small classes mean psychology majors get personal attention, which leads to deep learning. Our faculty instructors mentor students in the psychology bachelor’s degree and help them plan a course of study and prepare for careers or graduate school.
  • Actual research experiences. Laboratory classes in the psychology bachelor’s degree allow students to conduct large-scale research over the course of a semester. You’ll have access to state-of-the-art electroencephalogram (EEG) equipment and facilities for research with human and animal subjects. In addition, psychology majors often present their findings at conferences, and these research experiences are excellent preparation for either graduate school or careers.

USCA psychology degree graduates can consider careers such as case manager, career counselor, human resource specialist, psychiatric technician, substance abuse counselor, and victim’s advocate.

Educational Opportunities

Many USCA psychology majors also major or minor in business, sociology, or biology. About a third of our students go on to graduate school in fields such as psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, education, and health sciences.
