STEP Silver Bluff Audubon

Your school's next outdoor field study is only a STEP away!

About STEP

Silver Bluff Audubon hosts Ruth Patrick Science Education Center’s outdoor/environmental education programs in an effort to enhance the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills of students in grades K-12. The elementary, middle, and high school programs offer hands-on experiences in a stimulating environment. Implementing these programs at the Silver Bluff Audubon Center encourages students and teachers to experience science and mathematics in exciting yet challenging ways.

Silver Bluff Audubon Center has indoor classrooms, beautiful forests with miles of trails, ponds, and a variety of resident wildlife. There is a $11.00/student charge. Teachers and chaperones attend free of charge.

Select from various exciting hands-on programs for your students that are environmentally focused, grade-specific, inquiry-based, and aligned to state standards. A STEP visit includes three 45- to 60-minute activities addressing the chosen program topic. Those activities will include a lab study, a field study, and a hike (unless otherwise stated) with a half-hour for a picnic lunch. You must provide your own lunches. A typical schedule is 9:15 a.m. – 1 p.m. Shorter visits can be accommodated.
