General Information

Location

Discovery Camps take place at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and have sometimes included other learning venues like Riverbanks Zoo, Hitchcock Woods, SC Aquarium, Lake Thurmond, the Audubon Center, Augusta Canal and Interpretive Center, and many more. Details of field trips will be sent to parents in advance.

Classes are available for students in Grades K-6.

Before and After Care

CAMP INVENTION:
An Extended Camp experience is being provided to accommodate working families. Extended Camp hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and will be an additional cost per week. To sign up please select the Extended Camp option during checkout.

Imaginations will soar this summer in the all-new Camp Invention® program, Elevate! Campers in grades K-6 will team up to play hybrid hover ball games, tackle environmental challenges and become confident entrepreneurs designing the next great invention! Young Einsteins

Rising 1-2

Young Einsteins will enjoy exciting, engaging, experimental, interactive STEM experiences, delivered in a safe, educational and fun environment.  Each day they will investigate a new and interesting science topic.  Explore the science behind forensics, games, art, engineering, senses and more.

Cyber Patriots 

July 20-24, 2020 • 8:30am-12:30pm

Rising 6-8

Cyber Patriot Camp is part of the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. ​ Cyber Patriot Camp is designed for middle school students who are just getting into cybersecurity or who have cybersecurity knowledge and want to learn more.  Topics include: introduction to cybersecurity & careers, cyber ethics, online safety, how computers work, virtual machines,  cyber threats​, cybersecurity principles, account management, file protections, Linux, Ubuntu 16, and GUI security.  The week culminates with the campers participating in a Cyber Patriot Competition. Students will compete against their fellow campers.  Attendees do not need to have any prior knowledge of cybersecurity to participate. Some very basic knowledge of computer hardware (knowing how to use a mouse, browse the internet, identify common computer icons, etc.) is helpful but not necessary.

Equestrian Explorers

Base Price $200.00

The Equestrian Camp is a full-day informational program for kids who have an interest in horses.  Topics to be covered include: ancestry, physiology, health, sport, and care.  Join us as we learn about the local equestrian community from area professionals.   This unique experience will feature interactive science activities, field trips and fun investigations.  While campers will have up close experiences with horses, they will not be riding them.

CODING 4 Kids

This camp is designed to inspire students through innovative, hands-on projects and challenges designed to propel them to Tech Readiness. Campers will gain an edge in STEM while making friends and learning basic coding skills and applying those skills in various ways including coding robotic objects.

Camp Invention

ALL Other Summer Camps

  • Refund Policy: 10 days prior to camp date, 75% refund less a $10 handling charge. 3-9 days prior, 50% refund less a $10 handling charge. <3 days prior, no refund. Please note: If a camp does not reach the minimum number of required campers by 3 weeks prior to the start date, RPSEC reserves the right to cancel the camp and refund 100% of tuition.

Food

Snacks and Lunch will NOT be provided by the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center. Campers must bring their own snacks and lunch. Snack and lunch breaks are supervised by Science Center educators.

Camp Check-In

All campers must check in and out with a parent or guardian daily. Any pick-up or drop-off changes should be turned in at that time.

Pick-Up

A parent or legal guardian must pick up children at the end of each program. Children will not be allowed to meet parents outside of the pick-up area. To ensure the safety of campers, we require advance written notice when anyone other than a parent or legal guardian will be picking up campers after the programs.

Short term parking is available in the parking lot in front of the RPSEC.
