Welcome to USCA and the School of Business Administration! It's time to SET THE PACE for your college experience.

  • Meet with your academic advisor to discuss the requirements for your program of study.
  • Get involved. Join a student organization that interests you. The university has many student organizations, while the School of Business has several business-related student organizations to help you explore different areas of business. These are listed on the last page.
  • Start attending Academic Curricular Enrichment (ACE) events. You must attend a total of 10 ACE events over your four-year college career. Attend two to four events per semester until you have satisfied this requirement.
  • Begin building your resume. As you progress through your first year, think about what you can do this year to add to your resume.
  • Find a summer job or volunteer opportunity that will allow you to explore your career interest.

In your second year, continue thinking about what you can accomplish to build your resume.

  • Meet with your Career Services advisor to learn about internships and how to secure an internship during the summer after your junior year.
  • Create an internship search strategy.
  • Attend a minimum of three to four ACE events this year.
  • Spend a day with someone in your chosen career to job-shadow.
  • Consider selecting a minor or certification that complements and enriches your degree.
  • Clean up your social media profiles; companies will be looking at you.
  • Complete your Handshake profile and upload your developing resume.
  • Look into study abroad opportunities for your junior and/or senior years.

This year, you will be sending your resume to companies.

  • Ask Career Services to critique your resume.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile to reflect any jobs, volunteer opportunities, or relevant class projects you've completed.
  • Research potential employers and decide which ones interest you.
  • Participate in at least one mock interview through Career Services.
  • Attend the on-campus career fair dressed in professional attire.
  • Be sure to make a great first impression.
  • Seek leadership positions in student organizations.
  • Intern during the upcoming summer or other engaging activities such as research or study abroad. Discuss options on course credit with the School of Business Director of Career Readiness.
  • Clean up your social media profiles; companies will be looking at you.
  • Attend a minimum of three to four ACE events this year.
  • Update Handshake, your resume, and your LinkedIn profile.
  • Participate in programs sponsored by the School of Business and Career Services.
  • Attend ACE events this year to complete this graduation requirement.
  • Actively apply for jobs.
  • Go to career fairs dressed in professional attire and network with recruiters.
  • Watch the Career Services calendar. See when companies are coming to campus for information sessions and attend these sessions dressed in professional attire.
