Center for Cyber Initiatives and Awareness (CCIA-AI)

Mission

The mission of the Center for Cyber Initiatives and Awareness (CCIA-AI) is to bring together USCA’s cyber curriculum and cyber initiatives to produce an educated cyber workforce capable of handling ever-changing cyber needs. This is done through a distinctive cyber curriculum that is based on foundational principles of computer science and cybersecurity that also incorporates professional experience opportunities (e.g., internships, research, industry capstones) for our students so that they are “career ready” as they enter the workforce.

The CCIA-AI also strives to build cyber awareness in our region and across the state through public educational programming related to cyber issues and to build excitement in K-12 students for potential cyber careers.

  • Coordinate and participate in K-12 activities with the computer science department, faculty, college, and the Ruth Patrick Science Center.
  • Participate in K-12 and workforce development programs provided by the NSA CAE designation.
  • Establish and coordinate multiple GenCyber summer camps at USCA.
  • Recommend cutting-edge cyber curriculum to the department’s chair and curriculum committee.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders on cybersecurity interests. This may include regional industry, K-12 institutions, and regional facilities such as SRNS, SRNL, and the US Army Cyber Center of Excellence (CCofE).
  • Collaborate with the new SC National Guard Cyber Readiness Center and the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) facilities as they come online at USCA.
