Jerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman are world-renowned multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose mutual love of the history, stories, and significance behind the music they play is apparent as they romp through an energetic and engaging set of acoustic blues, ragtime, Tin Pan Alley pop songs, 1920s jazz, twin fiddle hoe-downs, and original compositions. The duo were artists-inresidence at Symphony Space in New York City for the 2024-25 season and recently released their first full-length duo recording.

On May 24, 1961, 19-year-old Jean Thompson boarded a Trailways bus in Montgomery, Alabama with eleven other young Freedom Riders bound for New Orleans – and history. Within three months, approximately 300 other riders took up the mantle to desegregate buses, following the path of the first brave few.
Mobs assaulted many of them. Others were arrested.
Wiley’s drama “Breach of Peace” is based on true accounts of surviving participants of the Freedom Rides and others involved in the early struggle for African American equality.
Based in North Carolina, Mike Wiley is an acclaimed actor, playwright, and director, recognized for his innovative and impactful contributions to documentary solo theatre.

An annual treat for Aiken, the Winter Nocturne at USCA has featured some of the best pianists for an evening with solo piano repertoire and a concerto performance with orchestra. We are graced with highly acclaimed pianist Spencer
Myer, currently a faculty member at Indiana University's renowned Jacobs School of Music. Aiken Philharmonic will accompany him in
Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, a transcendent masterpiece that redefines the genre.
"Myer floated through Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto with ease, bringing a liquid romanticism to this most accessible piece. Demonstrating an almost unbearably perfect technique, Myer combined strength with a lightning suppleness that shows why he won the 2004 UNISA International Piano Competition not long after graduating from Juilliard. He shone particularly in the beautiful second movement, where his ardent and gentle playing contrasted with the aggressive orchestra part." -- The Day (Connecticut)
